High-Protein Steak and Shrimp Stir-Fry

Ingredients:
For the Stir Fry:
– 1/2 pound (225 g) steak (sirloin or flank), thinly sliced
– 1/2 pound (225 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce (for marinating steak)
– 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for marinating steak)
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
– 1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced
– 1 cup broccoli florets
– 1 carrot, julienned
– 1 small onion, sliced
– 3 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)
For the Sauce:
– 1/4 cup soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
– 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
– 1 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons water
– 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Steak:
1. In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for 15-20 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
2. Prepare the Sauce:
– In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey (or sugar), cornstarch slurry, and sesame oil if using. Set aside.
3. Cook the Steak and Shrimp:
1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated steak and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
2. Add the shrimp to the same skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside with the steak.
4. Stir Fry the Vegetables:
1. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet. Stir-fry the bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, and onion for 3-4 minutes until crisp-tender.
2. Add garlic (and ginger if using) and stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Combine and Cook:
1. Return the steak and shrimp to the skillet. Pour the sauce over the ingredients and toss to combine.
2. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and everything is evenly coated.
6. Serve and Enjoy:
– Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
