Ingredients:

👉 For the Brownie Layer:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra fudginess)

👉 For the Cookie Layer:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease or line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.

2. Make the brownie layer:

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar.

  • Add eggs and vanilla; whisk until smooth.

  • Stir in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until just combined.

  • Fold in chocolate chips.

  • Spread brownie batter evenly in the bottom of the prepared pan.

3. Make the cookie layer:

  • In another bowl, cream softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Beat in egg and vanilla.

  • Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • Fold in chocolate chips.

  • Gently spread the cookie dough over the brownie batter (you can drop spoonfuls and gently flatten/spread it out).

4. Bake:

Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
Pro tip: Check at 30 minutes to avoid overbaking — you want that chewy center!

5. Cool & Cut:

Let cool in the pan for at least 15–20 minutes before slicing into bars or squares.

🧁 Tips:

  • Chill for cleaner cuts (and epic fudgy texture).

  • Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top before baking for a gourmet finish.

  • Want more chocolate? Drizzle melted chocolate over the top after baking.
