Option 1: Using Store-Bought Croissants

Ingredients:

  • 4–6 store-bought croissants (fresh or day-old)

  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chocolate chunks (semi-sweet or dark)

  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar, fresh berries, whipped cream, or maple syrup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Slice each croissant horizontally, but not all the way through (like a sandwich).

  3. Fill with a handful of chocolate chips/chunks.

  4. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment and bake for 5–8 minutes, or until chocolate is melted and croissants are warm and slightly crisp.

  5. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with berries or whipped cream.

Option 2: Homemade Chocolate Croissants (Pain au Chocolat)

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed (or homemade croissant dough)

  • Chocolate batons or sticks (or use chocolate chips)

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Cut puff pastry into rectangles (~3×4 inches).

  3. Place a few chocolate sticks or a tablespoon of chocolate chips at one end of each rectangle.

  4. Roll pastry tightly around chocolate, sealing edges with a bit of beaten egg.

  5. Brush tops with egg wash.

  6. Bake 15–20 minutes, until golden and puffed.

  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with coffee, cappuccino, or hot chocolate.

  • Add fresh fruit on the side.

  • Drizzle with warm chocolate sauce or honey for extra sweetness.
