Sweet and Sticky Steak Bites

by admin

Ingredients

  • 1½ lbs sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ¼ cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (or ½ teaspoon ground ginger)

  • Optional: sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep the steak:
Pat steak cubes dry and season with salt and pepper.

  2. Sear the steak:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add steak cubes in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Sear for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to desired doneness. Remove steak and set aside.

  3. Make the sauce:
In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic, sauté for 30 seconds. Stir in soy sauce, honey, vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger. Cook, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens slightly (about 2–3 minutes).

  4. Combine:
Return steak bites to the skillet and toss to coat them evenly with the sticky sauce. Cook for 1–2 minutes to heat through and let the sauce cling to the meat.

  5. Serve:
Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot over rice, noodles, or as finger food.

Tips

  • Use high heat to get a good sear without overcooking.

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less honey/sugar.

  • Add a pinch of chili flakes for heat.

  • Leftovers taste great cold or reheated.
